Health and Safety
Health and Safety Policy
250 people a year lose their lives whilst at work in Britain. Around 156,000 non-fatal injuries are reported each year and an estimated 2.3 million suffer from ill health caused or made worse by work. Some careful thinking and planning beforehand can eliminate many of these occurrences.
Under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 all personnel have specific statutory obligations to themselves, to their employers and any other persons affected by their work. If you neglect to take reasonable precautions, you may endanger your own safety and of those working with you. Safety is achieved through knowledge, care and forethought, but, whereas care can and must be practiced by all, knowledge comes with experience and training.
Our Legal Obligations
Glencross Cleaning Ltd recognises and accepts its legal obligations within the field of Health & Safety at Work placed on it by the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. It is the Company’s continuing policy to promote and maintain the highest standards of safety by providing safe places of work, safe systems of working and by correct maintenance care and attention to all tools and equipment to minimise personal injuries and safeguard the health of their own employees and other persons
Our Objective
To reinforce the Company policy on Health & Safety at Work and the measures established, whilst ensuring compliance within the statutory requirements, insofar as these apply to the Company’s activities.
Company Safety Policy

To carry out its activities in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practical, that persons not employed by the Company, but who may be affected, are not exposed to risks to their health and safety.
This statement of general policy will be extended as and when appropriate to meet the specific requirements of the Company’s activities, particularly:
- Premises and equipment to be maintained and kept in safe condition.
- Working practices and systems to be safely maintained and where practical, without risk.
- Employees to receive adequate and sufficient information, training and supervision in how to carry out their work with regard to both their own and others safety.
- Employees to be consulted on H&S issues and to be represented by individuals who can communicate their concerns.
- Contractors, visitors and others to be made aware of the Company policy and procedures set in place to safeguard the health and safety to themselves and others that may be affected by their acts or omissions.
- Health & Safety factors are given proper consideration when any changes are made to the Company’s operational procedures or when new equipment is brought into operation.
Where appropriate, this will be extended and augmented by a detailed statement of procedures applicable to a particular site.
The Health & Safety Policy and Safe Working Procedures will be reviewed annually as a minimum.
